Here’s my review for Danescombe Valley House, sorry it’s a bit gushing,

but we were honestly bowled over xx

We have just returned from a break at the wonderful Danescombe Valley House and

I really don’t know where to start (or end) this review, because we were completely blown away by not only the house, but also the views from the house, the decor, the garden, the range of equipment, the kitchen and the fabulously quirky bar area leading to the terrace. Every room was just ‘wow’ from the moment we walked in. Importantly, when we encountered a small problem, the owner was on it straightaway and sorted it in literally a few minutes, which made us feel very comfortable.

The house itself is stunning; its location and the views offered are simply beautiful. Every window and especially the balcony offer a real feast for the eyes.

You can’t get a better start to the day than breakfast on the patio with its views over the Tamar estuary and the terraced garden. Then after spending the day exploring the local area it was great to sit on the balcony with a G&T in hand and and watch the world go by. The world in this case being boats of all description, paddle boarders, rowers, walkers, kingfishers, herons and, very occasionally,  a car. We sat out there at night too and listened to the owls hooting.

The terraced garden is an absolute delight for any keen gardener, or horticulturalist. Not for the faint hearted or anyone unsteady on their feet, you can scale the many stone steps to the different levels and discover not only impressive specimen plants and planting schemes, but also tucked away seating areas where you can enjoy a book, or just take in the beautiful views in complete peace. It’s a fabulous example of what can be done with a super steep garden and contains many hardy tropical plants and trees as well as those native to the area. The herb garden was an unexpected delight.

We loved staying here and would say to anyone thinking about booking,

‘Do it now, you won’t regret it!’.
